Use your stale bread rolls to prepare this cake recipe that never fails. Delicious and perfect for every occasion, especially during the cherry season. Don’t forget to use almonds for a heavenly combination.

Ingredients


sugar
130 g
eggs
4 pcs
butter
80 g
grated lemon zest
1 pcs
raisins
80 g
lukewarm milk
500 ml
sliced almonds
50 g
dry bread rolls
8 pcs
cherries
750 g

For the topping:
confectioner's sugar
2 tbs

Preparation

  1. Cut the dry bread rolls into thin slices and pour lukewarm milk over them. Let soak for 20 minutes.
  2. Stone the cherries and sprinkle with half of sugar.
  3. Whisk the butter, the rest of sugar, egg yolks, and grated lemon zest. Add soaked bread rolls, cherries, raisins, and almonds.
  4. Gently fold in the beaten egg whites.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased round mould.
  6. After baking, allow to stand for 10 minutes. Sprinkle with confectioner's sugar.
