Carnival doughnuts – frittelle


Think of carnival time, and you can already smell something sweet in the air😉 There are different variations of it, but we really like this Italian version of carnival doughnuts, the so called Frittelle. 

And here is a recipe so that you can make them with your little helpers. 


  • 500 g white wheat flour
  • 30 g yeast
  • 200 g walnuts
  • 100 g honey
  • cinnamon
  • goji berries for decoration

Dissolve the yeast in some water and add sugar. Let it rise for 10 minutes. Sift the flour into a bowl and pour the risen yeast into it. Add water and knead thoroughly. Let rise for approximately one hour. Heat the oil and gradually spoon the dough into it. Fry the frittelle evenly until golden brown.
Heat up the honey and chop the walnuts. Fry the walnuts in heated honey. Pour the honey and walnuts over the fried frittelle. Finally, sprinkle with goji berries.
