4 simple ideas for little chefs

How kids can help you in the kitchen

Cooking with kids can be a fun activity that will surely bring you closer together. They love to help the grown-ups and are very proud of their own creations, so make sure you shower them with compliments. And don’t forget to turn a blind eye to the messy kitchen.

Cookies. Nothing creates a positive atmosphere like baking cookies. Ask your little chef to help you sift flour, add sugar or other ingredients and knead the dough. Then, let them choose the shape of the cookie cutters: hearts, stars or dinosaurs? Tough choice!

Pizza. Kids love pizza. Start with compiling a shopping list of needed ingredients and do the shopping together. At home, let the kids roll out the dough and top it with tomato sauce and cheese. Your little chefs will burst with pride when the result of their own endeavors is placed in the middle of the dining table.

Smoothies. If your little ones have difficulties getting out of bed in the morning and love to help in the kitchen at the same time, smoothies might be just the thing. Place all the ingredients on the kitchen counter. Then let the children put the ingredients into the blender and blend until smooth. They’ll be awake in no time!

Lettuce and other salad ingredients. Although they might rather skip the ice-cream than have a taste of salad, many kids love to wash vegetables. Encourage them to help you tear lettuce leaves in smaller pieces and wash them. For the bravest ones, pass them a kitchen knife and teach them how to cut those delicious veggies.
