Is Self-Cleaning Oven A Myth? Fortunately Not!

How can you achieve a spotless oven with no effort?

In case the oven in your home is used very often it is bound to get dirty at some point. With constant use especially, the dirt begins to accumulate fairly quickly. A dirty oven is not only visually distracting, it can also have negative effects on your health and, in extreme cases, can even cause a fire. You probably don’t want that happening in your kitchen, do you? Nobody wants that.

So you have no choice but to clean the oven regularly. Or do you?

We know, cleaning the oven is one of the most time consuming kitchen tasks, especially when the fat sticks to the inside of the oven. But you’re in luck, there is a solution …

A self-cleaning oven? To good to be true? There are some manufacturers that produce ovens that clean up (almost) on their own.

Several different technologies are at work, from pyrolytic self-cleaning, oleophobic nano technology to simple steam and catalytic self-cleaning. Some of them are pretty scientific. The important thing is – the best of them actually get the job done, so self-cleaning ovens are not a myth.

You probably want to know which ones are the best and why? Here goes: Pyrolytic cleaning is the most efficient way to clean an oven with extremely high temperatures that leave the oven spotless. To ensure safety, the oven is locked during and immediately after the cleaning process and when it cools off, you just have to wipe away the leftover ash with a damp cloth. Models from Gorenje’s Essential and Advanced lines ensure your oven will be shiny and clean with a temperature of up to 470 °C and a 120 minute programme. For those that need more options, models from the Superior line use a temperature of up to 500 °C and offer three levels of PyroClean: gentle cleaning (takes 90 minutes), medium intensity (120 minutes) and very intensive cleaning (150 minutes). And they do get the job done so you don’t have to!

Our suggestion? If your financial situation allows it, spend a few extra dollars or euros on the self-cleaning function. You will thank us later.

Make memories: built-in ovens

HomeMade shape The characteristic rounded shape is one of the most beneficial features of Gorenje ovens. Inspired by traditional wood-burning ovens, it enables hot air to move around freely. Since the food is heated evenly and from all sides, it is always perfectly done: crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside.Read more
